Day Trips visit HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT - 28th October 2019

The Day Trips Group is running the following trip, which is open to all Swindon U3A members HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT -Monday 28th October 2019 At the Houses of Parliament, you can visit Westminster Hall, the oldest building which has held many important events, such as coronation banquets for Elizabeth l and James ll, trials of Guy Fawkes and Charles I. You will take a tour of the building which is only open to the public with a guide. This will include all the main rooms including the main chamber and will last approximately 1hr 30mins. If you wish to know more visit www.parliament.uk/visiting/virtualtour. It is a truly wonderful building with so much history. The visit has been arranged with our local North Wilts MP. James Gray MP. We will be taking a maximum number of 60 people and there will be 3 tours. All groups booked together will be on the same tour. There will also be time after the tour and lunch for a wander around the area, as there are a lot of other interesting places to see. To enter the Houses of parliament there is “airport-style security”, guests must pass through metal detectors and have all bags x-rayed and searched. Guests will then have their photographs taken and issued a temporary pass which must be worn at all times and marks them out as visitors.  Unfortunately we need to leave early, as the security can take 30-45 minutes. Don’t worry we’ll still have time for a cup of tea before the tour.

The itinerary is as follows,

7:45 am   Pick up at Ashington Way, West Swindon Map (Free parking in West Swindon Centre car parks)
